DAY ONE–Thursday, September 21
7 a.m.: Departure from Bethel Park Community Center. Breakfast bar and water provided on the bus. Rest stop enroute, optional breakfast on your own.

 

11:00 a.m.: Arrival at Kinzua Bridge State Park, 296 Viaduct Rd., Mt. Jewett, Pa 16740. Upon arrival, guests will have time to use the restroom and then enjoy a catered “Swedish immigrant-inspired” lunch in a private room at the Kinzua Park Visitors Center. (Fun fact: The original bridge was built by Swedish immigrants.)

 

Noon: After lunch, guests will be greeted by a PA State Park Ranger for the “History of the Bridge” program and interactive museum tour. Then, take a deep breath and stroll to the end of the Kinzua Sky Walk and enjoy the amazing views of the Kinzua Gorge. Take some time after your stroll to explore the PA Wilds Visitor Center and Gift Shop.

 

2 p.m.: Begin boarding bus for 2:15 p.m. departure. Sit back and relax for our ride to Wellsboro, PA.

 

4 p.m.: Check in at the historic Penn Wells Lodge in Wellsboro, PA, Wellsboro, PA 16901 (Baggage handling is included) This historic hotel/lodge has welcomed guests for over 150 years and remains the gateway to the PA Grand Canyon. Guests will enjoy the nostalgic ambience and charm of this well maintained historic hotel. Take some time after check-in to rest in your room or stroll and explore the shops and gaslit streets of the charming town of Wellsboro before our welcome reception and dinner.

 

6 p.m.: Welcome group dinner in the historic Mary Wells Hotel Dining Room. All entrees include: A mixed green salad with balsamic dressing, rolls, iced tea, coffee, tea and chef’s choice of dessert.
Choice of entree:
• Oven-roasted turkey with gravy served atop a bed of traditional stuffing, mashed potatoes with sauteed green beans and a side of cranberry sauce.
• Baked ham with maple mustard glaze, served with mashed potatoes and sauteed green beans.
• Broiled haddock served with white wine butter sauce, wild rice medley and sauteed green beans.

DAY TWO–Friday, September 22

7:00- 8:15 a.m.: Enjoy a hot breakfast in the Penn Wells Lodge Breakfast Room. (Please leave your bags outside your door for pick up when you depart for breakfast.)
 

8:15 a.m.: Gather in the lobby to meet our local step on guide and depart by 8:30 a.m.
 

8:30 a.m.: Depart for Leonard Harrison State Park Visitors Center at 4797 PA-660 Wellsboro, PA 16901. Sit back and enjoy the stories from our local step-on guide about the history of this park and region. Leonard Harrison State Park is located on the east rim of the Pine Creek Gorge, also known as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. The gorge is 800 feet
deep and nearly 4,000 feet across. The lookout at this park provides unprecedented views. Take in the gorgeous scenery,visit the gift shop and please take time here to visit the restroom.

 

9:45 a.m.: Depart Leonard Harrison State Park.
 

10:15 a.m.: Arrive Ole Covered Wagon Canyon Tours at 1538 Marsh Creek Road Wellsboro, Pa 16901.
 

10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Ole Covered Wagon Fall Classic Tour. This family owned and operated business provides a truly unique way to experience the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. The horse drawn custom-made wagons provide a comfortable ride with lots of padded seats and canvas covers to protect from weather. The tour guides are local and knowledgeable in the history of the canyon dating back to the 19th century. We will follow the Pine Creek Rail Trail just like the early settlers.This is truly a journey into history and nature you won’t soon forget! Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride, the beautiful scenery and the Pennsylvania wildlife.
 

12:45-2 p.m.: Cowboy Lunch!! Circle the wagons and gather round to enjoy a delicious “Cowboy “ inspired luncheon after our Canyon Covered Wagon Ride. Menu to include: pulled pork , BBQ chicken, baked beans, potatoes and dessert. Beverage, tax and gratuity are included.
 

2:15 p.m.: Board the bus to depart for Pittsburgh. Rest stop enroute for dinner on your own.
 

8 p.m.: Return to Bethel Community Center depending on traffic.
